“If you want to know how someone lives, watch how they breathe.”
– Max Strom

Breath is something we do every moment of every day — and yet, most of us rarely pay it any attention. When we do, it can be life-changing.

Breathwork has been one of the most transformative tools in my own practice and teaching. Through consciously exploring the breath, we can soothe the nervous system, quieten the mind, and reconnect with the innate wisdom of the body.

At its heart, breathwork is about creating safety within. When we slow and deepen the breath, we signal to the body that it’s safe to rest, releasing tension and inviting the parasympathetic nervous system (our ‘rest and digest’ response) to come online. And it’s often in these moments of deep rest that our body’s natural capacity to heal can gently unfold.

Some of the ways breathwork can support you:

🌿 Calms the mind and helps relieve anxiety and overwhelm
🌿 Eases physical tension and supports digestion
🌿 Improves focus, sleep and emotional regulation
🌿 Helps us process and release held emotions
🌿 Restores a sense of balance and wholeness, especially in times of stress or transition
🌿 Supports postpartum recovery and the journey through pregnancy by nourishing the nervous system

Breathwork doesn’t have to be complicated. It might be as simple as learning to soften and lengthen the exhale, or exploring the rhythm of an oceanic ujjayi breath. Whether it’s practiced on its own, woven into your yoga, or as part of a guided relaxation — breathwork is a deeply accessible, empowering practice that you can carry into your daily life. All my classes and retreats feature some guided breathwork to help bring you into a deeper connection with your body and mind. I also offer breathwork courses and workshops as well as bespoke breathwork workshops which can be tailored to you or your organisation’s specific needs

As James Nestor writes, “Breathing is not just a biochemical process; it is a behaviour.” And like any behaviour, with gentle awareness and practice, it can change — and so can we.

In my classes, workshops and retreats, breathwork is always taught with care and sensitivity, meeting you exactly where you are. It’s a simple but profound tool in your self-care toolkit — helping you come home to yourself, one breath at a time.
